Its not often you get to have a look at a jewellers bench- where the jewellery you wear everyday is made- so I thought I would give you an insight into my workshop.
“ If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?” Albert Einstein
I'm very lucky to share a studio space with other jewellers in the heart of Glasgow. The Briggait run by wasps houses many creative and small business' and I never tire of wandering the halls and spotting secrets in the architecture.
Sharing a studio with other jewellers is great as there is so many styles coming together which means the space is curated with objects of interest and well used equipment.
My desk however more often than not is a bit of a mess- but funnily enough thats how I work best. There will always be half baked ideas, offcuts and sample pieces lying around that spark inspiration. Along with these bits and bobs there is also an abundance of beloved hand tools, they become an extension of you as a goldsmith and for me anyway they are very special and I absolutely have my favourites.
I love inviting my clients into my space and allow them to see how their pieces are created. If you would like to visit and discuss a bespoke design or one of my Make Your Own Wedding Ring workshops. I'll be there with a cup of tea ready and two very friendly studio dogs ready to greet you.
If you want to see more behind the scenes insights of my process you can see it on the Jane Harrison Jewellery Intsagram.
